Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how TypePalette (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use our software application (“the Software”, “the App”).
Summary
The TypePalette app does not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. All your data stays on your device or in storage locations you choose.
The only time we receive personal information is when you buy a Commercial License for work use. In that case we receive limited order information, as described in Section 3.3. Personal use requires no purchase, so personal users share nothing with us.
1. Information We Do NOT Collect
TypePalette is designed with privacy as a core principle. The app does NOT collect:
- Personal information (name, email, address, etc.)
- Usage data or analytics
- Device identifiers
- Location data
- Keystroke data or input monitoring
- Content of your snippets or text
- Any telemetry or crash reports
2. Local Data Storage
2.1 Where Your Data Is Stored
All data you create in TypePalette is stored:
- Locally on your Mac in a directory you specify
-
Default location:
~/Documents/Apps/TypePalette/ - Optional: Any folder you choose, including cloud drive folders (Dropbox, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, etc.)
2.2 Data Format
Your snippets are stored as human-readable JSON files. You can:
- View them with any text editor
- Back them up manually
- Move them to any location
- Delete them at any time
2.3 We Never Access Your Data
We have no servers, no accounts, and no way to access your data. Your snippets never leave your device unless you explicitly place them in a cloud-synced folder.
3. Third-Party Services
3.1 Cloud Storage Providers
If you choose to store your data in a cloud drive folder, your data will be handled according to that provider’s privacy policy:
We are not responsible for how these third-party services handle your data.
3.2 No Analytics or Tracking
TypePalette does not integrate any analytics services, tracking pixels, or advertising networks.
3.3 Commercial License Purchases
Payments for Commercial Licenses are handled by a third-party payment provider, named at checkout or on your invoice, which may act as the seller of record. The payment provider collects your payment details and billing information and handles them under its own privacy policy.
From the payment provider, or from you if you buy by email, we receive only the order information needed to provide your license:
- Your name and email address
- Company name and tax ID, if you provide them
- Country, and state or province where required for tax
- Order number, number of licenses, amount paid, subscription renewal date and status, and refund status
We do not receive your full card number or other payment credentials.
We use this information only to deliver your license and invoices, answer your support requests, process refunds, and meet tax and accounting obligations. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or send you marketing email unless you opt in. We keep order records for as long as tax and accounting laws require.
3.4 Mac App Store
If you download TypePalette from the Mac App Store, Apple handles the download under its own privacy policy. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your Apple settings, Apple may give us aggregated statistics such as download counts and crash rates. These statistics do not identify you.
4. Data Security
4.1 Your Responsibility
Since all data is stored locally, you are responsible for:
- Securing access to your Mac
- Protecting your cloud storage accounts (if used)
- Backing up your data
- Managing file permissions
4.2 No Encryption by Default
TypePalette stores data as plain JSON files. If you require encryption:
- Use macOS FileVault for full-disk encryption
- Use encrypted cloud storage services
- Use encrypted volumes or containers
5. Data Retention and Deletion
5.1 You Control Your Data
You have complete control over your data:
- Access: Open the storage folder in Finder at any time
- Export: Copy your JSON files anywhere
- Delete: Delete individual files or the entire folder
- Modify: Edit JSON files directly if needed
5.2 Uninstallation
When you uninstall TypePalette:
- The application is removed from your Mac
- Your data files remain in their storage location
- You must manually delete data files if desired
6. Children’s Privacy
TypePalette does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13 years of age. Since we collect no data, there is no children’s data to protect.
7. International Users
TypePalette can be used anywhere in the world. The app does not collect or transfer any data. If you buy a Commercial License, your order information is processed by the payment provider and by us, and may be transferred to and stored in countries other than your own.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.
9. Contact Us
If you email us (for example, for support), we receive your email address and the content of your message. We use them only to reply to you and to identify a Commercial License when you ask for Priority Support, and we do not add you to any mailing list.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at:
Email: team@typepalette.com
10. Your Rights
The app collects no personal data, so you already have complete control over all your data stored locally on your device.
If you bought a Commercial License, you may ask us to access, correct, or delete your order information by emailing us. We will do so unless tax or accounting laws require us to keep it.
This Privacy Policy is designed to be transparent about our data practices. TypePalette is built on the principle that your data belongs to you and should stay with you.
